2. Content, Sourcing and Adapting existing material

In this module, we focus on one of the most practical challenges of CLIL teaching: finding and adapting materials that truly work for primary learners. While resources are widely available, not all of them are suitable for teaching content through a second language, especially when learners are still developing both language and subject understanding. You will learn how to evaluate materials critically, where to find reliable resources, and how to adapt them in ways that support both content learning and language development.

Planning CLIL lessons can often feel like searching for the right materials in an overwhelming number of available resources. In this introduction, we focus on how to approach this process effectively by developing clear criteria for selecting and adapting materials. Rather than relying on ready-made solutions, we introduce practical strategies to help you make informed decisions and turn existing resources into accessible, meaningful CLIL materials for your students.
