1.4 Planning with Time in Mind
An often overlooked but essential factor in CLIL planning is time. The duration and format of your lesson or project — whether it is a single standalone lesson, a short series of lessons, or part of a longer cross‑curricular project — strongly influence what and how you can teach.
In this chapter, we explore different CLIL formats and why realistic timing is crucial. Because CLIL involves both content and language, learning typically requires more time for comprehension, interaction, and support. Understanding how much time you have, and how your lesson fits within a broader context, will help you set achievable goals and design well‑paced, effective learning experiences rather than rushed ones.
