Been on a Europass course in person? This course comes with it.

A practical course for primary and secondary teachers who want to flip their lessons: what the method is, and how to prepare home materials, plan in-class activities, motivate students to prepare and make the most of class time.

What you will learn

  • Understand what a flipped classroom is, where it comes from and what advantages and challenges it brings
  • Prepare content for the home phase by recording yourself, using digital tools, choosing ready-made videos or going low-tech
  • Explain to students how to engage with pre-class materials, and deal with those who arrive unprepared
  • Run the in-class phase, from checking understanding to discussions, case studies, peer teaching and other collaborative activities

In a flipped classroom, students study the theory at home, through videos, readings or other materials, and class time is used for what matters most: applying, discussing, experimenting and working together. The teacher moves from lecturer to guide, and every student gets more time to practise and more personal support.

This course takes you through the method one phase at a time: preparing the content for home, planning the activities for class, explaining a new kind of homework, checking whether students engaged with the content and running an active, collaborative lesson. Practical tips, summary tables and three complete lesson plans for primary, middle and high school help you flip your first lesson, even with little or no technology.
