Been on a Europass course in person? This course comes with it.

A practical course for teachers of all subjects and levels: how to prepare your class for group work and guide students step by step from simple cooperation to discussion and task-based projects.

What you will learn

  • Prepare your class for group work, with clear roles for students and a teacher who guides rather than leads
  • Build trust and communication with low-prep team-building and cooperation activities such as Think-Pair-Share and Four Corners
  • Structure discussions so that every student takes part, with Save the Last Word, Fishbowl Debate and Rotating Review
  • Design task-based and Jigsaw activities in which students share responsibility and create something together

Group work can be one of the most effective ways to learn, but only when it is planned with care. Without structure, a few students do most of the work, others drift, and conflicts get in the way of learning. Cooperative and collaborative learning offer a way out: students work towards a shared goal, each with a clear role and a real responsibility for the result.

This course follows the progression that works best in class. You start by preparing the ground, with the teacher’s role, student roles and team building, then move on to low-stakes cooperation, structured discussion and finally task-based and Jigsaw activities in which groups produce something together. All the strategies have been tested in real classrooms and work across subjects and age groups.
