Been on a Europass course in person? This course comes with it.

A self-paced course for primary and secondary teachers who want to build a classroom where every culture and identity is respected: the values of inclusion, human rights and democracy, with ready-to-use worksheets to explore them with your students.

What you will learn

  • Explore culture, identity and multiculturalism, and help students reflect on who they are and on implicit bias
  • Understand inclusion, diversity and equity in education, and create a classroom where every student feels safe and valued
  • Bring human rights into the curriculum and approach migration and cross-cultural mediation with empathy and critical thinking
  • Promote democratic practices, manage debates on sensitive issues and build a culture of tolerance in your school

Inclusion is one of the core values of the European Union and a priority of the Erasmus+ Programme. Today’s classrooms bring together students of different cultures, languages and backgrounds, and schools play a key role in turning this diversity into a strength. That requires a clear understanding of what inclusion means and practical ways to put it into practice every day.

This course links inclusion to the wider values of the EU. You will explore culture and identity, inclusion, diversity and equity, human rights, migration and cross-cultural mediation, and democracy in education, including how to manage debates on sensitive issues. Each topic combines key concepts with worksheets you can download and use with your students, from the Cultural Iceberg and the Diversity Wheel to activities on rights and migration. Lesson plans created by teachers who have worked on these topics are also available for inspiration.
